SCOTTS VALLEY BAND OF POMO INDIANS MULTI-TRIBAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AT A GLANCE

What are we doing today to protect the communities of tomorrow?

Five Tribes in Lake County have joined together to establish a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians along with the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians, Elem Indian Colony, Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake, and Robinson Rancheria of Pomo Indians in Lake County, California. This document will provide a long-term plan for implementing mitigation actions through projects and programs that reduce the impact of natural and human caused hazards that threaten these communities.

PLANNING TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hazard Mitigation Planning Takes Teamwork

The Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians invited R. O. Anderson Engineering to assist in the preparation of this Multi-Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Steering Committee members invited subject matter experts to join the Planning Team to assist in the risk assessment.

Invitations to join the Planning Team were sent to leaders in participating Tribal communities as well as experts from public and private agencies, including local fire districts,  public works employees from the tribes and neighboring districts, local floodplain administration agencies, and state and local emergency managers.

We appreciate their participation in our virtual Tribal Review meetings held between August 10 and August 17.

We value the input we received from the five participating Tribes and send our thanks to those who submitted a response to the online survey!

The Draft Mutli-Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plan online is currently in review.

The Annexes for each Tribe are currently undergoing final reviews by the Tribes and the consultant.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

The 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire

The impact of the 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire reminds us all of the need to anticipate and prepare for this and other threats to our communities. Because disasters affect the community as a whole, the plan is a process that involves everyone living in the community. Join the process!
